I have started to teach phonics in Reception this week and the children have worked hard so far learning the grapheme (letter name) and the phoneme (letter sound) of ‘s’ and ‘a’. We have also been developing the letter formation of each. The phonic activities will continue to be sent home daily as each new grapheme (letter) is taught. This week, we will be learning t, p, i, n.
This week, the children will also have the opportunity to choose a book from the school library to bring home. This book is chosen by your child for enjoyment and does not reflect their reading knowledge in any way. Please read the book with your child and encourage them to talk abut why they picked it and if they enjoyed it. Library books will be changed each Wednesday; please ensure they are kept in your child’s reading folder.
