Another busy week in Year 5. I have been very impressed with how all the children have settled into the Year 5 routines and have made a great start to their learning.

In Literacy we started work on The Highwayman, a narrative poem which includes love, tragedy, and a ghostly ending!   It has really grabbed the children’s interest and over the next week we will focus on these themes to inspire our writing.

On Tuesday the children had their first Brass session with Miss Geelan and we had a look at the different instruments we will be using.  We even had a little go at playing some of them!  In our next session the children will be allocated their instruments and they will bring them home for the first time.  The children will need to remember to bring their instrument into school each week for their lesson.  Watch this space for updates on progress and photos of the children during lessons.

The children have also been busy working in collaborative group tasks, kick starting our enquiries.  The children reported they felt “challenged” with some of these activities but found it “fun” at the same time!
