On Monday morning, I was greeted by a number of very exuberant Year Six pupils! The reason – well the day had finally arrived when they would meet their reception buddies and everyone was rather excited with just a couple of children feeling a bit nervous about the responsibility. This is definitely one of the best jobs that Year Six get to do and they are really, really good at it. Each year, I am impressed with how the older children care for our newest members of the school and Monday afternoon was no different. It was a delight to see them reading, chatting and drawing with Reception pupils. When we returned to class many of the children were keen to fondly reminisce about when they had been in Reception and met their buddies. Tomorrow we will be adding our finishing touches to our welcome cards, which will be presented on Thursday morning in our special assembly. Everything else this week has seemed far less exciting! Although next week on Thursday is our class assembly………..
