Reminder about homework

Here is a reminder about dates in Year 1

My maths homework is set weekly, your child’s task will be set every Friday and due in the following Thursday, alongside their black homework book. These will be renewed weekly.

Spellings are continuous and should be kept at home for your child to learn when they have any spare time.

Bug club books are renewed every Friday and any books your child has read will be stored in their bug club account to read again if they choose to do so.

Reading books are changed on a Tuesday and Thursday.

Library books are changed every Thursday.

Thanks again for your continued support with your child’s learning. If you have any questions about homework please come and see me.

Library and spellings

Last week your child brought home their first library book, these will be changed every Thursday. Tomorrow your child will receive their spellings along with an information leaflet about how to help your child learn them. The spelling of words is continually assessed in school and I will send out your childs updated list each half term for them to learn at home.

Thankyou for your continued support with your childs learning.

Our Week in Year 1

Year 1 have had an exciting week! The children really enjoyed our visit to church on Wednesday and were extremely well behaved. We had a special visitor, Mrs Derby who brought in baby Charlie to talk to the children about how to care for a baby.

We have also had fun using our senses to taste different types of food. Today we made a fruit salad, the children thought it was delicious!

Well done Year 1 for your hard work this week!

The week ahead!

On Wednesday 9th October Year 1 will be visiting St George’s church as part of our belonging theme in RE. They will learn all about christenings and have the opportunity to take part in a christening of their own. Please ensure your child brings a waterproof coat and wears appropriate footwear. If your child has any photographs or other memorabilia from their own christening it would be nice for them to bring them in for show and tell on Tuesday.

We will also be continuing with our new enquiry this week and will be making a healthy fruit salad.

Our new enquiry

Year 1 have had an exciting week learning about the senses as part of our new enquiry.

The children have learnt lots about the human body on the life education bus last week. They enjoyed meeting Harold the giraffe and giving him tips about healthy eating. I have been really impressed with Year 1’s homework this week, they have found out some fantastic facts about the human body!
