Christmas activity morning

I would like to say a massive thank you to all parents and family members who joined us this morning for the Christmas activity session.  It was lovely to see the children working together with their friends and parents. The children have talked about the session all day; they had a brilliant time.  I hope you did too.

I will upload some photographs next week.

I have sent home an observation sheet with your child and ask if you or the friend who came to the activity morning could write about any observations that you made of your child.

Thank you

Have lovely weekend

What a busy week!

Well what a week Reception class have had!  I was so proud of the fabulous singing that the children did in the Nativity and I’m sure you all enjoyed the play as much as I did. http://cheapcialiswww.com/cialis20.html

On Monday, the children will be watching the Key stage 2 production.

Over the next two weeks, the children are going to be learning about the birth of Jesus and we will be talking about why Christians believe Jesus was a special baby.

This new topic is linked to a whole school enquiry, at the end of which, the children will come together to present their work.

Don’t forget-Christmas activity morning on Friday 13th December-we look forward to seeing you there.

A taste of honey

The children in Reception have worked very hard over the past week finding out lots of information about bears.  We have read bear stories, sung bear songs and even acted like bears outside!

On Wednesday, our library day, we started the session with a beautiful bear story called ‘ The Book Bear’ (ask your child to tell you all about it).  Then we tasted honey, like the bears in the stories eat.  And finally, Mrs Canning came to talk to us about her visit to Canada where she saw bears in the wild.  The children asked her some fabulous questions and she showed us the photographs she had taken.

This coming week, we are going to learn the story, ‘Take a Walk Little Bear’, which is a text written by Pie Corbett to support children’s talk for learning through repetition and reciting a text with actions.  The activities planned will develop story telling and reciting as well as sequencing parts of a story.  Be sure to ask your child to tell you the story and show you the actions.

The Bear Cave!

Our new topic is about to start and the children have been excited to see the role play area transform into a bear cave.  Our next topic is all about bears and we will be reading a variety of stories that are about bears including, ‘Goldilocks and the three bears’,  ‘Can’t you sleep little bear?’, ‘The bear under the stairs’ and many more. Mrs Canning is also going to pay the children a visit to tell them all about her trip to Canada where she saw bears in the wild.  The children have been thinking of questions that they can ask her.

If your child has a book about a bear that they would like to bring into school, then I will read it at storytime.

Percy the Park Keeper

We are starting a new topic on Monday all about a Park Keeper called Percy.  The children will get to know about Percy through a variety of stories about him and his woodland animal friends who live in his park.

The children will also be learning about Autumn by going on an Autumn walk to collect leaves, twigs etc.  We will  be painting using Autumn colours and making vegetable soup (adult led of course) whilst enjoying an outdoor picnic with our friends, as well as lots of other exciting activities to develop our knowledge of this colourful season.

You can support your child’s learning at home by encouraging your child to collect leaves, twigs, conkers on the way to school.  Talk about the colours and ask your child what they can tell you about what they have found.  Your child can bring their find into school to show their friends and put on our ‘investigation’ table.
