PTA

PTA

The Parent Teacher Association exists in order to raise valuable funds for our school and enhance the education of our pupils. We organise various events and activities throughout the year for both children and adults to enjoy as well as to raise funds.  As a parent of a child attending Unsworth Primary, you are automatically a member of the PTA and are welcome to attend all PTA meetings.

Here are some of the events that PTA organises throughout the year:

Autumn Term:

Infant and Junior Discos:  These usually take place around Halloween or Bonfire Night. The infant children love to dress up and the junior children come along in their favourite party clothes

Spring term:

Family Disco:  This takes place around Valentine’s Day and is a great event for our school community. Families can come along and enjoy a dance and a hot supper. There is a bar for the adults and a tuck shop for the children.

Easter Egg Bingo: The children love this event as they get a chance the win lots of chocolate!! It’s surprising how competitive the adults are too!

Summer Term:

Party in the Playground:  This is the highlight of our year and is our version of a summer fair including traditional games such as tombola, hook a duck, raffle, face painting etc. We always pray for good weather so that we can arrange lots of activities outdoors and it’s always great when the sun shines. We need lots of helpers for this one so volunteers are most welcome!

Fundraising

Fundraising

Our school relies upon the goodwill and efforts of pupils, parents, staff, family and friends to raise money for school funds. It’s the PTA’s job to organise and manage these fund raising events, both big and small. A large proportion of the money we raise goes towards funding the transport for school trips throughout the year.  This is a considerable expense and helps to make school trips more  affordable for families. In addition to this, the PTA contribute to various other projects. This year we aim to raise funds to purchase a new outdoor speaker system and also to continue to develop our Communitree garden.

Can You Help?

The PTA is always looking for assistance in running events. If you are able to assist (or just want to know more about what is going on when), then email your details so we can keep you informed. Even if you can only help once a year, your assistance would be gratefully received!
