In September 2014 schools across the country were faced with the challenge of developing their own assessment systems to track the attainment and progress of children, due to the removal of national curriculum levels for all year groups, with the exception of Year 2 and Year 6 who continued to use levels until September 2016.
As a school we embraced the challenges of having an opportunity to devise and implement our own systems and we have spent the last 18 months developing our thinking and practice as a whole staff. In light of this and supported by BEST (Bury Education Support and Training), we put together a series of 3 linked training sessions for Head teachers or senior leaders, where we were aiming to discuss and unpick “assessment” through using our own school as a starting point to think about how developing a bespoke assessment system matched to a schools own curriculum makes assessment become school owned.
The first two cohorts ran from February to July 2016, cohort 3 between September and November 2016. and cohort 4 in spring 2018. If you are interested in the programme contact the school office on one of the options below:

All the course materials are presented digitally for ease of use through an app called Trello, which is used across all three sessions to communicate and share, so it is essential that all participants set up a trello account on a tablet or laptop.
