Why did you choose to become a school governor?

I had recently retired from the School Improvement Team in Bury Children’s Services so had some time on my hands!!  I felt that I had the relevant skills to help the school, particularly at a time of major change to the National Curriculum and the way in which children would be assessed in the future.

What do you do when not attending Governors’ meetings?

I visit the school regularly to participate in monitoring activities such as Learning Walks and I love attending events, particularly the Christmas plays.  Aside from school, I swim regularly to try and keep fit and love to visit family in Switzerland where my favourite pastime has to be walking in the Alps.
