Year 3 builds on from the structure of Year 2, organised into a variety of learning spaces to ensure a smooth transition into Key Stage 2 and to reflect the themes the children are learning about. Children are introduced to French, with a 1hr session each week with Madame Jackson.
Day to Day Routines
- Reading books are changed on a Friday. Two books will be given each week as well as access to Bug Club.
- Home work will be set every two weeks on a Friday.
- Library books will be chosen and changed on a Friday.
- PE days are Tuesday and Thursday afternoons.
Learning the Recorder
Across Year 3, pupils learn to play the recorder with Mrs Geelan. This is a development from them learning to play the Ocarina in year 2. Each week the children have a session in the hall to learn notation and build up a collection of tunes to be able to play. At the end of the year pupils perform in the end of year musical concert.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic and the restrictions in school, children are not currently learning to play the recorder.
