The Parent Teacher Association exists in order to raise valuable funds for our school and enhance the education of our pupils. We organise various events and activities throughout the year for both children and adults to enjoy as well as to raise funds. As a parent of a child attending Unsworth Primary, you are automatically a member of the PTA and are welcome to attend all PTA meetings.
Here are some of the events that PTA organises throughout the year:
Infant and Junior Discos: These usually take place around Halloween or Bonfire Night. The infant children love to dress up and the junior children come along in their favourite party clothes.
Christmas Market: This usually takes place at the end of the term and sells crafts made by the children.
Easter Egg Bingo: The children love this event as they get a chance the win lots of chocolate!! It’s surprising how competitive the adults are too!
Party in the Playground: This is the highlight of our year and is our version of a summer fair including traditional games such as tombola, hook a duck, raffle, face painting etc. We always pray for good weather so that we can arrange lots of activities outdoors and it’s always great when the sun shines. We need lots of helpers for this one so volunteers are most welcome!

Our school relies upon the goodwill and efforts of pupils, parents, staff, family and friends to raise money for school funds. View the 'Easyfundraising' information below to find out how you can raise money through 'Easyfundraising' when you shop online. It’s the PTA’s job to organise and manage these fund raising events, both big and small. A large proportion of the money we raise goes towards funding the transport for school trips throughout the year. This is a considerable expense and helps to make school trips more affordable for families. In addition to this, the PTA contribute to various other projects. This year we aim to raise funds to purchase a new outdoor speaker system and also to continue to develop our Communitree garden.
The PTA is always looking for assistance in running events. If you are able to assist (or just want to know more about what is going on when), then email your details to school so we can keep you informed. Even if you can only help once a year, your assistance would be gratefully received!

Do you shop online? Did you know that every time you buy something you could be raising money for Unsworth Primary School PTA?
In a bid to raise more funds we have registered with easyfundraising.org.uk. Parents and carers can raise money for free when shopping online. Over 2,700 well known retailers, including Amazon, John Lewis, eBay and Tesco will donate a small percentage of what you spend to Unsworth Primary School PTA to say thank you for shopping with them.
So far we have raised £527.72 as at September 2018!
It’s a really simple process, all you have to do is:

2. Get shopping – it couldn’t be easier!
The cost of transport for school trips has risen substantially over the last few years. The PTA pay the transport costs for one trip per class, per year. This equates to around £2800 per year or nearly £13 per child. Without these vital funds from the PTA, school trips would be unaffordable for many families. In addition to this, PTA funds are used to pay for other activities and resources for the benefit of our children.
Last year PTA funds paid for the Communitree garden to be established and for each class to have themed activity days in the garden. This year we would like to continue to fund Communitree activities and we are also fundraising for a new outdoor speaker system.
Easyfundraising has already raised over £5 million for over 50,000 good causes across the UK. So what are you waiting for? Head to easyfundraising.org.uk to fundraise for Unsworth Primary School PTA now.
Thank you for your support.
