Buddies for life
One of the most cherished traditions at our school is the special buddy relationship between our Year 6 and Reception children. This connection begins even before the youngest pupils start school, with our Year 6s writing heartfelt welcome letters to their new buddies. Over the year, this bond blossoms as the older children take on a mentoring role – offering support, friendship and guidance to help Reception children settle in and thrive.
Following their SATs, our Year 6 pupils celebrated with their Reception buddies by walking to the local park for a fun play session, followed by games and a refreshing ice pop back at school. It was a wonderful way to mark the end of a busy term and celebrate the friendships that have grown so beautifully. These moments create lasting memories and reflect the caring, inclusive spirit of our school community.
