Reception Children Build Confidence and Coordination in Exciting Balance Bike Sessions

Our Reception children have had an exciting and enriching experience this term through a series of balance bike sessions led by three expert instructors, including the inspirational Kiera Byland BEM.

These sessions have been a fantastic opportunity for the children to develop their gross motor skills, coordination and balance in a fun and supportive environment. As they learned to glide and steer, their confidence grew with every session – many even progressing to riding independently!

Kiera Byland, a Special Olympics Great Britain athlete since 2014, brought a unique energy and warmth to the sessions. Despite living with Rubenstein-Taybi Syndrome and a learning disability, Kiera has achieved remarkable success and is a passionate advocate for inclusion. Her presence was truly motivating for both children and staff, showing what can be achieved with determination and support. The sessions were filled with laughter, encouragement and a real sense of achievement. It’s been wonderful to see our youngest pupils not only learning new physical skills but also building resilience, self-belief and a love for active play.
