Our school council plays a vital role in the Unsworth community. Two children are voted to become the school council representatives from each Key Stage 2 class at the start of the school year and they attend regular meetings with their peers to make plans about how we can help and support our school and the area in which we live. The school council then carries out their plans with an appropriate level of support from staff and delivers assemblies about its projects to the rest of school.
This role supports the children with their personal development, as they are able to develop skills in teamwork, public speaking and confidence, as well as the understanding of the wider school community about democracy and the importance of using their right to vote.
